Museo del Oro
The Gold Museum contains more than 55,000 pieces of gold and other materials from all the major pre-Columbian cultures in Colombia.
Museo Nacional
This museum is housed in the expansive, Greek-cross-shaped building called El Panóptico (originally was a prison). Walk through iron-barred doors into white-walled halls, and experience a chronological display of Colombia’s past.
Bogotá Bike Tours
Typical highlights include La Candelaria, a fruit market – watch spice vendors with their superhot wares! – the Plaza de Toros de Santamaría (The Bullfight Plaza of Saint Mary), the Central Cemetery, and the Red Light district.
Museo de Botero
This massive museum of Fernando Botero’s art works is spread over several halls over two floors. His art work is dedicated to all things chubby: hands, oranges, women, mustached men, children, birds, and the leaders of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC).
Zipaquirá
This mine is one of South America’s wonders, and it is home to the underground Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral.
Laguna de Guatavita
This lagoon is where the famous ‘El Dorado’ legend is thought to have originated. The lake was once the sacred place of the Muisca tribe. See the Indigenous Cemetery and the Tominé Reservoir surrounded by mountains.
Monserrate
Monserrate is a mountain that dominates over the center of Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia. It rises 3,152 meters (10,341 ft.) above sea level. A beautiful church was built atop the mountain in the 17th century. It contains a shrine devoted to «El Señor Caído» (The Fallen Lord).The peak is a destination for religious pilgrims, as well as being a prime tourist attraction.
Tabio
The town is about forty minutes north of Bogotá and is known for its natural medicinal hot mud springs.
El Eje Cafetero
UNESCO called this location a World Heritage site. It is a very beautiful scenic part of one of Colombia’s coffee territory in the sloping foothills of the Andes. You can see urban settlements in the high forests, soaring wax-palm trees in lush Cocora Valley, a butterfly sanctuary, the Panaca and the Recuca regions.
