CITY OF PHOENIX EMPLOYEES
Language programs are a key part of responding to the growing and ever-changing demographics in the United States. Since approximately 50 million people speak Spanish in the United States, it is an absolute necessity for city employees to be able to communicate in multiple languages in order to better serve the community.
Interlingua can deliver face-to-face services seven days a week with flexible schedules at City of Phoenix facilities, such as police precincts and fire stations, or at Interlingua’s premises as needed.

PARTICIPANT PROGRESS AND SCORES
Attendance is controlled by each student's signature on another. Students must attend a minimum of 80% of lessons. They can make up for an absence by taking an online lesson or planning an assignment with their teacher. Attendance accounts for 40% of the final grade.
The teacher ensures the student progress through class participation and the student’s age of vocabulary and grammatical structures. Students will take an exam at the end of the course. The combination of attendance, participation, and examination will yield the final grade:
A-, A, A+ / 81-100%
B-, B, B+ / 61-80%
C-, C, C+ / 40-60%
D / Less than 40%
NUMBER OF STUDENTS PER CLASSROOM
Minimum three (3) students per class, maximum (12).
Instructor-to-student ratio. One instructor per six (6) students.
Service delivery.
TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Interlingua is proud to be one of the few educational institutions approved to do business with the federal government and several cities. Public employees may be able to receive training at Interlingua using tuition reimbursement.
ENROLLMENT & PAYMENT
PAYMENT:
All these classes are for full-time/regular employees only. They are paid with the employee’s tuition reimbursement funds (NOT blue card money) without any out-of-pocket expense to the employee. The employee needs to have available funds and pass the class with a C or better grade.
NOTE:
Employees need to pay for the class if they do not pass the class with a C or better grade, or if they do not have available funds (because they are currently using the tuition for college or because they are not full-time/regular employees).
